 What on earth are they?

I've left the labels on to help you,
but these orbs have got even more of those black speckles.

Just as a hint, they tell us about function as well as structure.

Maybe you guessed that the labels "db"
indicate "dense bodies"?
We're now in the realms of enzyme histochemistry.
