Opilionid CommunitiesThis is the "home page" for a consideration of harvestmen communities, including indices for describing them in terms of species diversity etc., and methods for comparing them, especially by ordination and classification. |
|
These are applied to a range of communities from around the world with a more detailed analysis of European hervestman. This is based on my own data and published data which I was privileged to study during preparations for my contributions to the book Harvestmen: the biology of Opiliones; on ecology (with Glauco Machado) and field methods.
There are some significant gaps in the geographical coverage and if you can point me towards further data sources (or, better still, provide me with data) or if you wish to comment, I'd be pleased to hear from you. In particular, data on communities in France would be most welcome!
Ways of describing communities | This doesn't have any specific
mention of opilionids, but is just a discursive summary of various
indices which can be used to describe communities.
If it's harvestmen you want - just ignore this option! Or, see a brief summary - or even more discussion! |

Community
parameters for lots
of locations over the world! |
There's sufficient focus on
harvestmen for the dedicated oplionologist in this section - or if
you're interested in biodiversity. |

Approaches
to comparative analyses |
Not much of specifical
arachnological interest, just a brief introduction - including ordination and classification. |
